COMPUTER MEIDIATED COMMUNICATIONComputer mediated communication or (CMC) is the main form of communicationtoday, with all the advancements that technology has made over the past few years communication has changed shaped. Earlier forms of communication consisted of picking up the telephone or sitting down to write letter, well CMC has changed all this now you can get on your computer, smart phone, and even your tablet and send out an email or a text to one person or to multiple people at once. I believe that CMC has its positive aspects as well as its negative aspects, I say this only because although this has made communication easier and faster and somewhat more efficient for the sender of the message or email, but there is that chance that the receiver of the message may misinterpret the tone of the message or email thus possibly causing a problem that was originally not intended by the seller. Bevin and Sole touch on emoticons in chapter four section one and how most mobile devices provide a button that when pressed produce a vast assortment of emoticons that one can choose from depending on the mood or expression the sender is implying the tone of the message or email. This will also help thereceiver to decipher the tone of the message or email (Bevin L, J. and Sole, K. 2014).While recording my own CMC over a period of one day, I realized that messages without using some type of expressional connotation the chance that it would be misinterpreted is very likely to take place. A conversation that took place the morning that I started to monitor my CMC usage was done via email with a potential buyer of a product I was selling. I used a website called Offer-up to post an item that I was selling and approximately 8:42 AM I checked my email and saw that a buyer wanted to purchasemy item, the buyer’s message was quick and to the point as was my response back to her. 2
